Six nabbed for body in car boot
Love turned deadly for an 18-year-old man from Malacca when he was killed due to jealousy.
His battered body was found in a trunk of a car at about 1.15am on Friday by policemen manning a routine roadblock along Jalan Ayer Keroh in Malacca leading to the toll exit of the North-South Highway.
Six suspects, including the youth's girlfriend and her brother, have been picked up for questioning.
Prior to the gruesome discovery, the six-men police team had became suspicious when a car suddenly stopped on the roadside about 150 metres away before reaching the roadblock.
A patrol car was sent to investigate before policemen found the body of the teenager in the boot of the car after questioning four men who were in the car.
Police arrested all four men and later picked up the victim's girlfriend and her brother.
All six suspects, aged between 18 and 25, were later remanded for seven days to assist in further investigations.
Melaka Tengah CID chief Asst Comm Salehhudin Abd Rahman said police also recovered iron rods from the car.
Police believed the four suspects were on the way to dispose of the teenager's body and other evidence when they were caught.
The victim has been identified as Yap Wai Seng, a jobless youth from Taman Seri Krubong, Malacca.
Initial investigations showed that the motive of the killing was relationship problems and jealousy.
The cause of death has yet to be ascertained pending post mortem but there were strangulation marks around the victim's neck besides other injuries on his body.
ACP Salehhudin the victim could have been killed in a house in Semabok before his body was thrown into the trunk of the car to be disposed off.
It was learned that Yap was living with his maternal grandparents after his mothers remarried following the death of his father more than ten years ago.(The suspects being taken to the court for remand)
His mother, known only as Lee, was at the Malacca Hospital mortuary to claim Yap's body.
She said her relationship with her son had distanced over the years, adding that she last saw him on Thursday afternoon.
