For the second time in a month, the RCMP on Vancouver Island have alerted police in the U.S. about a shooting plot uncovered over the internet.
The latest incident came to light on Friday during a Facebook conversation between a 14-year-old Port Alberni, B.C., girl and a 17-year-old male in Brewster, Wash., according to Port Alberni RCMP Staff Sgt. Lee Omilusik.
The Washington youth allegedly threatened to shoot people at his high school and said he had set a date and already had the weapons.
The B.C. teen called her local RCMP, who then called police in the community, about 200 kilometres east of Seattle, who tracked down the boy and arrested him, Omilusik said in a release Monday.

On Feb. 4, a Port Alberni man who was playing an online video game alerted police to a threat about a school shooting in San Antonio, Texas, after hearing other participants in the game talking about the plot.
Police in San Antonio were able to find the youth involved and arrested and charged him.
"This incident again demonstrates the power of the electronic world and how different agencies can quickly work together to protect the citizens they serve regardless of obstacles such as international boundaries," Omilusik said.
Port Alberni is about 140 kilometres northwest of Victoria.
