No One can imitate M.G.R.

Premgi is on cloud nine these days, and he has every reason for feeling on top of the world. One of them is that he has got an opportunity to enact the same mythological role that the legendary MGR did for a song titled Vaalibha Vaa which has been sung by Ilayaraja for the much awaited film Goa, where he is paired opposite Melony. “It was an amazing experience — the song has lyrics like Ponmana Chemmale and Puratchi Thalaivare which refer to the titles bestowed on this great actor. Another high point is that my periyappa (uncle) Ilayaraja has sung this song. Even though I’m familiar with MGR’s movies, it was an unusual experience for Melony. At times she was quite perplexed and amazed at the enormous amount of heavy jewellery and costumes she had to wear,” he said. Apparently this model-turned-actress quickly got into in flow after director Venkat Prabhu asked her to watch some of MGR’s songs online so that she could get into the skin of the heroine’s character.
The other reason why Premgi can’t stop smiling is because he has bagged the role of a solo hero in a film that is tentatively titled 2010. Vega has been paired opposite him and the movie is being produced by actress Sona’s home banner.
