British High Commission stops issuing passports
British citizens residing in Malaysia will no longer be able to get their passports issued by the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur from tomorrow.
It said new passport applications would be processed and printed centrally in a regional processing centre in Hong Kong.
The High Commission said on its website www.ukinmalaysia.fco.gov.uk/en/passports that the change was part of a global initiative to streamline overseas passport operations and reduce administration costs, while improving security and maintaining the quality of customer service.
It said applications would be completed within 10 working days after receiving the correct documentation and fee.
The High Commission will still be able to issue travel documents for emergency purposes.
