Kangna Ranaut is thrilled about winning her first National Award

Kangna Ranaut is thrilled about winning her first National Award for best supporting actress for her role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion. And how did she celebrate the win? By having an ice cream at Hokey Pokey Ice Creams in Bandra!

“It is such an honour and a memory I will definitely cherish forever,” says an excited Kangna, “Fashion was a great film and Madhur Bhandarkar is by far one of the most talented directors in the industry and deserves all the credit for this win. When he called me yesterday with the news that I had won, I was surprised and delighted,” says the 22-year-old actress.

Kangna however says that she never does a film with awards in mind. “I put in more effort towards making a good film that audiences can enjoy. But as an actor, I do put in my heart and soul into the roles that I play. So all awards, all compliments, all fan mail that tell you someone appreciated your work is very special. The National awards are one of a kind — it is the country conferring an honour upon you. So it is really extra special,” says Kangna.

The actress reveals that it was an emotional moment for her entire family. “My father had tears in his eyes when he heard the news. He said, ‘You’re just 22. This is really incredible, to have achieved so much so soon!’ My entire family and my best friends all have big smiles on their faces today. I have been receiving sweet messages from well-wishers all day,” the actress smiles.
