Priyanka Chopra is ecstatic about winning the National Award for the Best Actress for Fashion. The actress, who is currently shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Anjaana Anjaani in the US, with costar Ranbir Kapoor, says she is eager to celebrate her success in Mumbai. “I have a tight schedule here in the US. In fact, we have just flown to Las Vegas from New York and will start shooting from here. But the minute I land in Mumbai, it’s party time,” says Priyanka, who I still reeling from her latest award.
“I got a call from Madhur (Bhandarkar) informing me about the news. I was spellbound when I heard it. And when it actually sank in, we both screamed with joy over the phone,” said Priyanka, who adds, “The calls haven’t stopped since then. My family and friends congratulated me and told me that I have done them proud. I was touched by their reactions. Although I had won several awards for my role in this film, this award is like the proverbial icing on the cake,” she adds.
The actress said that she was initially apprehensive about taking up this role. “I was not confident whether I would be able to do justice to Meghna Mathur. I am glad that Madhur and Ronnie convinced me to take up this role,” she says.
