Palagani Prabhakara Rao, who was in the liquor, real estate and finance business, died at a hospital in Vijayawada, where he had been admitted after hearing the news of his daughter's killing.
It was a long-running row between the two wives of her father, Mr Palagani Prabhakar, who has real estate and liquor businesses, which led to the brutal murder.
The police recovered the charred remains of the girl from a foundry in Auto-nagar about 12 km from Guntur on Monday night after Venkata Rao confessed to the barbaric act during interrogation.
A three-member gang kidnapped the girl when she was going to school in Vijayawada. Her brother escaped from their clutches.
Venkata Rao is the brother of Ms Venkateswar-amma, the first wife of Mr Prabhakar, who has another wife, Ms Narmada Devi.
Vaishnavi was the daughter of Narmada Devi. Venkata Rao wanted to eliminate the girl and her brother so that Venkateswaramma’s son could inherit all the property.
The kidnappers took the girl to the foundry owned by Venkata Rao. The police believes that she was murdered before her body was thrown into the furnace.
