An Indonesian man lost six teeth after the cigarette he was smoking exploded in his mouth.
The company that manufactures the product apologised and agreed to pay medical expenses.
Andi Susanto, 31, told Indonesian media the cigarette had blown up in his mouth while he was riding a motorcycle.
He accepted a payment of five million rupiah and all his medical costs from PT Nojorono Tobacco, makers of the brand of cigarette he was smoking.
He told the Jakarta Post newspaper he had been smoking since he was a schoolboy and had never had any problems.
“The incident was all so unexpected,” he said.
Susanto said he wasn’t chewing anything when he lit the cigarette and didn’t notice anything strange about its odour, colour or taste.
He said he would quit smoking after the incident.
