Bhavana Rao who gave a wonderful performance in the Yogaraj Bhat-directed Gaalipata, may not have been in too many Kannada films, but the young girl has already completed shooting for her first Tamil film Kola Kolaya Mundhirika which is directed by Madhumitha. However, her name has been changed to Shikha for this flick which will be releasing this week.
Kola Kolaya Mundhirika is a comedy movie which has been scripted by Crazy Mohan who has written many films featuring Kamal Hassan including Apoorva Sahodarargal, Michael Madana Kamarajan, Sathi Leelavathi, Avvai Shanmughi, Tenali and Panchathanthram.
Madhumitha who has directed this film says that Shikha aka Bhavana Rao did not impress her when the audition was taken, as her Tamil dialogue delivery was atrocious. “But when we explained the sequence to her, Shikha emoted perfectly. I did not want to look for any alternatives. Once she was selected for the film, Shikha showed a lot of interest in learning the language and worked hard. I am very happy about her role,” says Madhumitha.
Talking about her role in the film, Bhavana says that she plays one of the leading characters in the film which revolves around the hunt for hidden diamonds. “Most of the characters are tricksters who want to get these diamonds. I am also part of the treasure hunt. I really enjoyed doing this film and it was pure fun shooting for it. I am placing a lot of confidence in the film as the story and screenplay is written by Crazy Mohan who has written some of the best scripts in Tamil films. I hope something big happens through this film,” says Bhavana.
Talking about her new films, she says that she has to complete her Kannada film Gagana Chukki. “I am in talks with some producers to work in Tamil films, but nothing has been finalised yet,” she adds.
