A Delhi court on Monday asked the police to expedite the forensic report as well as ensure response from the US authorities on the Letters Rogatory forwarded to them in the case of alleged blackmail of Anoushka Shankar, daughter of Sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.
The chief metropolitan magistrate, Ms Kaveri Baweja, also issued notice to the special cell of the Delhi Police to file its response on the forensic examination report of the seized laptop of accused Junaid Khan by July 30.
The court also directed the investigating agency to ensure expeditious response on the Letters Rogatory forwarded to the US authorities seeking help from Google Incorporation in the case.
Khan, who was accused of sending e-mails to Anoushka demanding $1,22,000 in return for the private photographs obtained after hacking her mail IDs, has been granted bail by the court on November 19.
Mr Suleiman M. Khan, counsel for accused, filed an application in the court seeking forensic report on the laptop of Anoushka as well as a copy of complaint filed by her with the police.
The court, taking his plea into consideration, asked the investigating officer to supply the report to the accused within 30 days. A senior Home Ministry official had shot off a letter to the Delhi Police on August 8 on a complaint forwarded to him by Pt Ravi Shankar stating his daughter was being harassed and blackmailed on the material stolen from her emails and laptop and being asked huge money in return for the pictures.
